|Workshops - CBRN CoE Project 44|
IPO is a member of the Consortium of CBRN CoE Project 44 “Strengthening CBRN first response capabilities and regional cooperation in South East Europe, Southern Caucasus, Moldova and Ukraine“ and its representatives took parts of two workshops for beneficiary countries hold in Dubrovnik 13-15 September and in Chisinau 20-22 September of 2016.
|Symposium on Women in Chemistry|
On May 17th the OPCW Headquarters in the Hague hosted The Symposium on Women in Chemistry. The symposium was attended by over 60 participants from 40 countries – representatives of the scientific community and chemical industry. The aim of the event was to promote the international cooperation and to exchange experiences between women-chemists, concerning their professional lives and career possibilities.
We are pleased to inform that our colleague, Ms Edyta Łącka (from Analytical Department of IPO), had the privilege of attending the symposium as a representative of Poland.
The 1st place in the best poster contest of the conference
At University of Pardubice in April 20–22, 2016 took place 19th International Seminar „New Trends in Research of Energetic Materials”. The main topic this year's conference was „Modern experimental techniques and diagnostics for energetic materials”
We are pleased to announce, that work Investigation of initiating strength of detonators containing TKX-50, MAD-X1, PETNC, DAAF, RDX, HMX or PETN as a base charge (authors: Thomas M. Klapötke, Tomasz G. Witkowski, Zenon Wilk, Justyna Hadzik) took first place for best poster and has been awarded from the 91 presented works.

The subject was implemented in cooperation with University of Munich (LMU) and presents the results of initiating capability novel explosives by Underwater Explosion Test.
Official visit of Deputy Director General of OPCW
On April 19, 2016 the Institute of Industrial Organic Chemistry (IPO) was honoured to receive the high official visit of H.E. Ambassador Hamid Ali Rao, Deputy Director General of OPCW accompanied by Ms. Hyekyung Diana Park and the representatives of Ministry of Economic Development Ms Emilia Klimaszewska and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr Marek Kret. The visit was hosted by Mr. Arkadiusz Białek, Ph.D, Eng., Deputy Director of Biologically Active Products and the Environmental Safety and Mr. Bogdan Florczak, Ph.D, Associate Professor, Deputy Director of Explosives and Process Safety accompanied by Mr. Maciej Śliwakowski, Ph.D, Eng., Head of Analytical Department and Mr. Michał Frączak, MSc., Eng., Head of Chemical Safety and Static Electricity Department. During the visit H.E. Ambassador Rao was familiarized with the frame of activities conducted by the Institute for the purpose of implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention in Poland. During a short tour arranged in Department of Chemical Safety and Static Electricity as well as in Analytical Department the Deputy Director General had opportunity to learn about research techniques utilized for determination of dangerous properties of materials and visit the training facilities used for the CWC related education programs conducted at IPO. The meeting at the IPO concluded the visit of Ambassador Rao in Poland that embraced also i.a. political consultations with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Joanna Wronecka and Deputy Minister of Economic Development Mr. Radosław Domagalski-Łabędzki.

Institute of Industrial Organic Chemistry cordially invite you to attend the conference IPOEX 2016 “Explosives. Research – Application – Safety”, which takes place in Ustroń, Poland, on 6 - 8 June 2016.
The topics of the conference refer to a wide range of issues concerning the use and research on explosives designed for military and civil purposes. The subject of the conference also includes the problems concerning blasting works, safety in underground and opencast mining and binding regulations within this area.

|Project 44, the Warsaw Study Visit|
On 3-5 April 2016, under, CBRN CoE Project 44 ”Strengthening CBRN first response capabilities and regional cooperation in South East Europe, Southern Caucasus, Moldova and Ukraine”, IPO carried out a study visit for representatives of Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine.
The guests visited the Main School of Firefighting Service, the Rescue Unit, Boarder Guard units at Frederic Chopin Airport and the City Crisis Management Centre. The main objective of the visit was to support a national development of CBRN response systems in these countries.
